Social Networking Aggregators
Hello,
I'm new to the site but I want to start off by making a contribution.
With the recent explosion in social networking sites, Internet users are increasingly registering with multiple sites to keep in touch with friends and contacts, who are members of a multitude of different social networking sites.
A new class of social web site, called social aggregators, has arisen to help Internet users manage their diverse social network affiliations.
Relatively early in the product life cycle, social aggregators are still experimenting with different features, user interfaces, and aesthetics in the quest for niche dominance.
After conducting extensive research, the product I am most impressed with is Profilactic.com.
Here's a brief review of the features:
Profilactic:
1) A dashboard allowing users to see activity from their various social networks (called a lifestream).
2) Clippings (bookmarker) - the ability to create a bookmark of an Internet page and post it to the user’s profile.
3) Widgets, which allow users to promote their various social network affiliations on all their accounts., websites, or blogs.
4) The ability to publish content such as blog posts or status updates to multiple social network profiles at once. Registration with Ping.fm is required for this functionality
