Profile Pictures
This is a subject that I want to write about because I think that many people do not take the importance of what it can do to their branding! I have networked on alot for sites for my business. Each time I clicked on a members profile the FIRST thing that stuck out was their picture. That was the first think I noticed on all of the thousands of profiles I have viewed!
Now be honest, you look at the photo also in the beginning to the process of getting into the profile! Now think about your own profile image. If you are business network sites, our have posted on business directories, or other business related networking sites….does your image come across as professional?
Many, well I will be honest, most of the profile pictures were blurry, candid shots, web cam shots….. And they did not come across as professional by any means. And if I was researching different companies in order to pick one to provide a service for me, these are ones that I would probably stay away from!
One of the hopes of using the internet to market our business, whether it be an online business or an off line business, is in hopes that we will get customers/clients.
So if you are one of the profiles who’s pictures do not reflect what you want your business to come across as I have a few suggestions for you.
*Do your hair
*Dress nicely
*Do not take WEBcam pictures!! Get someone to take a picture of you and upload it to your computer. If you don’t have any other means of getting a picture then a webcam, then forget the personal picture and use a logo.
*Make sure logo image is not blurry after upload.
(Here is an article that describes How to Create a Logo)
First Impressions are VERY important when dealing with an On-line Business and consumers. Don’t settle for less then what you want your image to tell about your products/services.
It only takes a little extra time to make your profile picture more professional. And if you really want to sketch a lasting image in the minds of the visitor, take a little more time and make it FANTASTIC!
And remember the same principle goes for content!

Catherine
