Outside the Box

It seems that these days Twitter is the "buzz" word going around from site to site. Everyone is riding the FREE social media train ride trying to increase their following member statistics. They are concerned with "Breaking the Code". Get 600,000 Followers in 10 Days Using my new system! My advice to these people, Don't worry about Breaking the Code!

Now I've been using and studying Twitter for a while now, and realize that in advertising you need to put your ad in front of a TON of people. This is a GREAT, time tested technique but works only to a certain extent. People will only help build YOUR business if YOU build THEM first. And building others starts with forming a relationship.

The best way, in my opinion, to form a relationship is to SOCIALIZE. Twitter is not ALL about BUSINESS. From my experiences, people that try to "force" their business down people's throat or invent SPAM-like ways to get UNHEARD OF traffic are SHUNNED by the Twitter community. And just like in business, when you get a BAD reputation... it FOLLOWS you! ( LOL )

A lesson learned. Make interesting and fun conversation around subjects with others that DON'T relate to business. When people FIRST interact with others in a friendly way, business talk usually follows and is much easier to SELL. Also, BE HONEST. You don't have to be the BEST and MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE person about technical stuff or coaching... just be YOU!

I agree with what you say about building relationships, but on Twitter, all other things being equal, more followers is better than fewer.

Also their is a code to break. I've broken it. It's to do all the right things on Twitter, including building relationships, with enthusiasm and passion.

Thanks for the post.
