Outside the Box

CriticalThinkingOutsideTheBox.com

Just have to share my excitement today.

I woke up and discovered that @larrybrauner is in the top 50 Twitter users based on reach as reported by twInfluence. Actually #47 with a reach of 13,786,275.

I didn't use smoke and mirrors or any gimmicks. I only used sound social media concepts.

To get an understanding of how I approach, Twitter, Ning social networks, list building and more, read and subscribe to my Online Social Networking blog.

I love comments and questions, as long as they're not about my gray hair or my extra pounds.

Some of the best people will check out your link before following you. If it's a sales letter, these people will probably decline to follow.

My tracking shows that nearly 1,000 people have checked out my link. The link leads to my blog.

I've added about 100 subscribers to my blog in the past month and 39 members to this site. As of now I have 12,242 followers on Twitter.

Larry,

Why is the profile link one of the determining factors? Most Twitter users
link some type of sales page. My blog only has 2 articles and it is with
Blogger, so I chose not to link to it. I want to get a WordPress Blog fully
set up with content before trying to drive traffic to it. Is this a bad idea?
Congratulations again, and thank the Lord we have YOU here to guide us
all through Social Media. I will do a personal testimonial for you anytime!

The most important rules to follow are:

1. NO spamming at all.
2. Your profile link must NOT lead to a sales page.
3. Read and FOLLOW THROUGH on the Twitter advice in my blog.

At the time of this comment I have 11,668 followers.
4. Be patient because it takes time to get going if you're going to do it right.

Hi Larry,

That's great news and recognition. You definitely are an expert in social networking, and I enjoyed having you as a consultant.

Warmly,

Linda

@Brendan

I requested figures for @stephenfry and @chrisbrogan. Because of their large number of followers, they will have to be calculated offline. Then I'll be notified of the results.

Reach is not only determined by the number of followers. It also incorporates the number of followers those followers have.

@Ross

Schemes like Tweetgetter are pretty much a waste sorry to say. There are tons of excellent Twitter applications as referenced in Tons of Great Twitter Resources.

Congratulations Larry on making the top 50! It's really amazing how much attention Twitter is getting lately. Did you see the article about it in this past Sunday's New York Times Magazine? And the page right before it had an article about Facebook! Thanks for all your great blog posts, I'm still going through them. I'm not sure if you included these sites and tools: Tweetergetter (tweetergetter.com/rossdiamond), Magpie (be-a-magpie.com/4x6csx) and the biggie - My Twitter Toolbar (mytwittertoolbar.com). This last one is amazing, it has easily accessible links to hundreds of tools, articles and websites related to Twitter and social media. Take a look and let me know what you think.

Best,
Ross Diamond

Larry that's great news, but I'm a little confused by twinfluence's figures, where's @stephenfry who currently has 211,000 followers, or @chrisbrogan whom has 45,500 followers, surely their reach must be worthy of note. Either way, congratulations.

I know Debbie. There's so much to do and so little time. The 80/20 Rule has helped me, but I too have a long to do list. I appreciate your support!
